Child Helpline Gambia (199 / 1313)

The 199 helpline is a coordinated initiative designed to receive and respond to cases of child protection and gender-based violence in The Gambia. The 1313 helpline focuses specifically on gender-based violence. Both are free, toll-free services offering survivors a safe and confidential option to speak out against violence and abuse. Managed by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare.

UNFPA The Gambia - One Stop Centers

One Stop Centers during business hours; helpline 199 available 24/7

UNFPA operates One Stop Centers across The Gambia providing free comprehensive support for GBV survivors. Services include medical care, psychosocial support, legal aid, shelter, case management, and police involvement (with consent). The GIMS center provides safe, confidential reporting of GBV cases through helpline 199, online platform, and 10 centers nationwide.

National AIDS Secretariat (NAS)

Government organization providing FREE HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, counseling, and treatment services. Operates 67 HIV testing sites and 23 treatment centers across The Gambia. Services include PEP, HCT, PMTCT, clinical care, and ART - all at no cost.

ActionAid The Gambia - GBV Support

ActionAid International The Gambia, in partnership with the Network Against Gender Based Violence, supports survivors of SGBV through One Stop Centers. Services include legal aid, shelter, healthcare, referral assistance, and post-traumatic counseling. Provides training, awareness-raising, and community outreach to prevent violence and protect women's rights.

International Organization for Migration (IOM) The Gambia

IOM implements programs including Migrant Protection and Assistance, Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR), Counter-Trafficking, and Assistance to Vulnerable Migrants. Services include psychosocial support, reintegration assistance for returning migrants, support for trafficking victims, and mental health services. All assistance is provided free of charge.

Women's Association for Victims' Empowerment (WAVE)

WAVE-Gambia provides free support for victims of human rights violations, GBV, and torture. Services include medical screenings, dental care, physiotherapy, psychological services, art-based therapy, trauma support, and livelihood assistance. Supported by UN Peacebuilding Fund, UNDP, and UNFPA.

Gambia Committee on Traditional Practices (GAMCOTRAP)

Non-governmental organization working to end FGM and other harmful traditional practices. Provides community surveillance, education, training, legal support, and alternative employment for ex-circumcisers. Funded by UNFPA, UNICEF, and other international partners.

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)

Independent national human rights institution for receiving and investigating complaints of human rights violations. Provides free reporting mechanism for abuses including hate crimes, discrimination, and other rights violations.
